In recent episodes of her Better off Read podcast Pip Adam has been talking to people about where they are up to in their creative projects and to bring along an object they are ‘using’ for this stage of the work.
Pip recorded an episode with me at Randall Cottage toward the end of my time as writer in residence in 2023.
You can listen to Episode 137 here.

Prompted by the generous invitation inherent in the work of Nick Austin and Ana Iti for personal response, filmmaker, writer and artist, Rachel O’Neill presents a guided experience based on a playful and poetic remodelling of time.
Rather than measure experience in terms of duration, O’Neill ponders: “what if we attend to the interpersonal tones and shifting array of voices that shape our day instead?” Join O’Neill in an experience of expanded musicality as they invite you to “gift a bit of yourself to yourself..[and] above all, to throw off the stranger’s life and sink luxuriously into who you are.”
This podcast is an adaptation of a lunchtime talk that was held at Te Pātaka Toi on 8 March 2023. While the podcast is about 17 minutes, set aside 40 minutes if you’d like to undertake the full workshop experience, and have pen and paper handy.
