SYMPHONY of QUEER ERRANDs

Symphony No. 1 in TBC Major

My third book of poetry, ‘Symphony of Queer Errands’, is a hybrid-form narrative poem that follows a composer/producer attempting to create an irreverent queer symphony with a ribald orchestra.

It draws on a range of poetic and musical forms including songs, chants, score sheets, dramatic dialogue, found sonic material, beat samples, and extended lyric sequences that aim to register as music with symphonic structure on the page.

Early on in the piece, the reader is introduced to the orchestra that will bring the ‘Symphony of Queer Errands’ to life. The instruments are entirely invented and embody concepts of dis/harmony, de/composition and experimental musicality, both classical and contemporary.

Listen to the audio below as I read prose poems introducing the instruments.
